HOW TO CHOOSE MY PADEL RACKET?

The range of padel rackets is vast, and choosing the right one becomes more challenging every day. Our advice is to always opt for top-tier brands like Varlion, Head, Bullpadel, Nox… All these brands offer rackets for every type of player and budget. The first thing to consider is your skill level and how often you will play, i.e., how many matches you’ll play per week.

For beginner players, we recommend rackets priced between €70 and €110. In this range, you will find carbon or mixed frames and fiberglass surfaces combined with semi-soft EVA foam, providing the necessary playability conditions. These features will make it easier to start playing padel and enjoy it from the very beginning.

For more advanced players, we recommend opting for rackets with firmer constructions that better withstand the intensity of play and incorporate technologies to protect arm health and minimize the risk of injury.

HOW ARE PADEL RACKETS CLASSIFIED?

Padel rackets are classified based on their shape into three main types:

Round-shaped rackets: These rackets have a centered sweet spot, focusing primarily on control.

Hybrid-shaped rackets: The shape of these rackets is a mix between round and diamond or teardrop. They have a centered and large sweet spot, balancing control and power.

Diamond or teardrop-shaped rackets: These are wider at the top and narrower at the bottom. The sweet spot is triangular, being larger at the top than at the bottom. These are power rackets and are recommended for more advanced players.

In addition to the racket's shape, it is essential to consider the foam used. Currently, it is challenging to find hard foams, which are the most difficult to handle, so most rackets are made with soft or semi-soft EVA foam. This material better absorbs the energy generated upon impact with the ball and reduces vibrations that need to be dissipated to avoid reaching the arm. The higher the level of the racket—and consequently its price—the better vibration absorption systems you will find.

Padel Rackets for Beginners

For those new to padel, it is recommended to start with round-shaped rackets, as their shape makes it easier to control shots. These rackets have a large sweet spot, making them easier to handle. The surface is mainly made of fiberglass, and the core uses soft EVA foam. These factors will help players hit comfortably without stressing their arm joints, ensuring a gradual learning curve.

Padel Rackets for Intermediate Players

For intermediate players, the market offers a broader range. At this level, players already know if they need more control, power, or a balance of both. Most rackets available are round, hybrid, or teardrop-shaped. There is an improvement in material quality and variations. You will find rackets with fiberglass surfaces and carbon frames, mixed surfaces of carbon and fiberglass, and full carbon frames. The cores use mainly soft or semi-soft foams to optimize shots and provide maximum performance while protecting the player's joints.

Padel Rackets for Advanced Players

Advanced players primarily use rackets made entirely of carbon for both the surface and the frame. Technologies are used in the surfaces to make them more resistant, consistent with the foam used in the core. The EVA foam employed is of higher quality than that used in lower-level models. Additionally, brands include technologies that help better absorb and eliminate vibrations generated during play to protect the player’s arm. At this level, you will also find diamond-shaped rackets designed entirely for power, where control mostly depends on the player’s skill.
